Changes are on the way!

I've had a manic few months and have barely stopped to draw breath!  I'm in the middle of making some major changes to my business which I'm hoping my clients will love.  Firstly, I've changed my business name to Helen McGlynn Photography.  Beyond Boundaries was a Ltd company which I owned when I also ran a networking business alongside my photography.  Since concentrating full time on my photography, it made sense to revert back to my own name and close the limited company.

Secondly I've embarked on some exciting new training which has allowed me to start photographing newborn babies - capturing them at their most gorgeous.  The new images are going down a storm with mums and I'm delighted I'm able to keep those fleeting moments as lasting memories for generations to come.

Finally I've started offering little workshops for the things I get asked for most - product photography and showing parents how to use their cameras to get great pictures of their little ones mainly!

This is just the beginning of this new phase of my business so I hope to bring you lots more products, services and hope to keep you coming back to look at my images.

Rock The Dress

I've been trying to organise a rock the dress shoot for over a year now! I can never seem to co-ordinate my diary with the weather and the willing model. However, yesterday all three collided to give me half an hour in the perfect location. Although I was short on time I wasn't short on inspiration and managed a few images I'm delighted with before I had to rush off again. I really need to get back there for a few more, just hope it doesn't take a year this time!

Persuasion

More often then not, I have to tempt my little subjects to have their photograph taken.  Sometimes I'll let them take my picture and show them the result then ask if I can do the same, sometimes I just have to show them each photograph as I take it to keep them happy.  But the method that works best is when I take a picture of their toy and show them that.  All of a sudden they want to be in the picture too with teddy, dolly or in this case....mouse

Setting the scene

Looking forward to tomorrow's shoots - a grandmother and her grandchildren in the morning and a trash the dress in the afternoon.
We're shooting the family indoors and I've been rifling through my props to find suitable items to set the scene. I've got a lovely chair for grandma and I'm going to have some fun arranging the children around her.
In contrast my afternoon shoot is a soon to be divorced lady who wants to mark her new status by wearing her wedding dress in a 'trash the dress shoot'. We've chosen a grungy grimy location near the coast and we are going to make sure she has some happy new memories wearing her dress.
Looking forward to showing you the results in my next post!
